So, walking to work through the pretty pretty snow I finally figured out. Now I just try to explain it to all of you so you stop worrying about (and at) me quite so much ...
Have you ever owned a laptop? Specifically, the mac laptops have really REALLY bright screens. You could read a book from half way across a room which would otherwise be pitch black by my laptop screen. Seriously. But when you unplug the stupid thing and take it out to do work away from a wall socket you have to remember to turn down the brightness or else the battery burns itself out.
I'm like that.
When I've got my version of a wall socket (ie, a non-stressful life) I'm bright and cheerfulish. This is where bouncy amyamy comes from. But when life is being stressful (midterms, finals, con, social shit, whatever) the AmyAmy (or maybe more accuratly Tactbot) goes on battery power and has to conserve energy.
So the bouncing stops, the random giggling tones down, the running around to do random stuff gets curtailed. Energy saving mode gets turned on.
No, when I'm sitting quietly just listening to you lot these days it's not because I'm upset, depressed, angsty, worried (well, not excessivly) or anything else. I'm just conserving energy because I'm trying to do too mucht with too little. I can't always opperate with my screen at its highest brightness.
So really, trying to "cheer me up", while I appreciate the thought, isn't really going to work. You'll be trying to get a response from me that I just don't have the energy and it's just going to frustrate both of us.
I found out two weeks ago what happens when you over stress the battery ...
The battery (and the 'puter) dies.
And trust me, forced reboot of a tactbot is never fun. :)D
